Monkey’s (The Trustee’s) were seen swimming, cycling and walking/wheelchairing this Easter around the roads and towns of Cornwall. All were partaking in a monkey (troop) triathlon raising funds to create a burial and memorial garden for parents that have lost their baby through late miscarriage.
The monkey cyclists, Hettie and Stuart, cycled 91.2 miles on a single speed BMX climbing 6543 feet. Each pedal turned raising money to help comfort and heal grieving parents through their devastating loss.
The founder Trustee, Kay, swam in full monkey costume 78 lengths, exceeding her 66 that she had planned. With no legal birth certificate given, each ‘Monkey Crawl’ length was to raise funds to get recognition for the sleeping baby parents cradle in their arms.
And finally The Founder, Darren also known as #bmxmonkey, completed his own triathlon with the support of his troop. From being completely bedridden with uncertainty if he would walk again, he has walked 5 miles, wheelchaired 2miles and made his comeback cycling 2miles to the end. A personal and emotional achievement. Every single bit of pain this caused him was for the pain and suffering of those parents grieving in an isolated society.
The #bmxmonkey lead the troops to the finish line, with Brody (Stuart’s Son) joining them. Brody cycled the last 10miles, climbing 1000ft.
A gruelling challenge for all, all pushing themselves for all our Angel Sons and Daughters and the grieving parents they have left behind.
